Got questions about your heating, cooling or hot water systems? See some commonly asked questions here or contact us to learn more.

How much money will I actually save on my electricity bill, and how much does it cost upfront with government rebates?

A quality heat pump can use up to 75% less electricity than a traditional electric hot water system, potentially saving a typical household around $200–$800 a year on energy costs. If you have rooftop solar, running your heat pump during the day can help you use more of your own solar power and reduce running costs even further.

Heat pump systems typically cost around $2,000–$6,000 installed, depending on the system and installation requirements. In NSW, eligible households can receive a Hot Water Upgrade Incentive of up to $640 when replacing an existing electric hot water system with an eligible heat pump. The discount is applied directly to your installation quote.

Please note: The NSW Hot Water Upgrade Incentive does not apply in Queensland. Other rebates and incentives may be available in Queensland, depending on your property and the system you choose.

Are heat pumps noisy? Will it keep me or my neighbors awake?

Modern heat pumps are incredibly quiet—usually operating between 40 to 48 decibels, which is similar to a quiet household fridge or a modern split-system aircon unit outside. If noise is a primary concern, look for premium top-tier systems, such as the Aquatech Dynamic X8 or Rapid X6 which are among the quietest on the market. We always ensure strategic placement away from bedroom windows.

Do they still work on freezing winter mornings or during high-humidity summer days?

Yes, absolutely. High-quality modern heat pumps are specifically engineered to extract ambient heat from the air even in freezing ambient temperatures down to -10°C. Because Northern NSW and SE QLD experience heavy sub-tropical humidity, heat pumps actually thrive here because humid air holds more heat energy, making the system run even more efficiently.

How long do they take to heat up compared to my old electric tank?

A heat pump takes roughly 3 to 5 hours to heat a full tank from completely cold. While this is slightly slower than a traditional, power-hungry electric element, a properly sized tank (e.g., 200L to 300L) ensures you never notice. The system automatically tops itself up throughout the day as hot water is used, keeping a steady supply ready for the family.

Can I program the heat pump to run purely off my rooftop solar?

Yes, and this is the best way to maximize your savings. Most quality heat pumps feature a built-in timer or smart controller. We can program your unit to run exclusively between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM when your solar panels are producing peak "free" electricity. This essentially turns your hot water tank into a highly cost-effective thermal battery
